lssod class descriptions

 We create a great way for little ones to develop coordination and have loads of fun learning.  Our 45-minute or 1-hour combo classes teaches the basics of tap, ballet & jazz/hip hop. Students will have fun learning to make rhythmic sounds with their feet and improving coordination and flexibility. 

ATTIRE:  

Female: Leotard, Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers, Tap Shoes

Male/Gender Neutral: Solid Color Fitted Shirt or Leotard, Dance Pants, Hair away from face, Black Ballet Shoes, Black Tap Shoes

 Ballet technique provides the foundation for the development of the dancer. 
Concentration is focused on proper body alignment, strength and graceful body movements. 

ATTIRE:  

Grade 5-12

Female: Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers & Hair In Bun

Male/Gender Neutral: Solid Color Fitted Shirt or Leotard, Dance Pants, Black Ballet Shoes, Hair away from face

Grade K-4

Female: Leotard, Tights, Pink Ballet Slippers & Hair Up

Male/Gender Neutral: Solid Color Fitted Shirt or Leotard, Dance Pants, Black Ballet Shoes, Hair away from face

Technique focuses on the articulation of the feet in order to create rhythms and exciting sounds. Older students will make sounds they never thought possible.

 Includes techniques for stretching, isolation, turns, jumps and progressions. Music is always current and high energy. Jazz is America’s gift to the dance world and we offer many styles.

Borrowing from classical, modern, and jazz styles, dancers incorporate balletic legwork with strong use of the core. Free expression and improvisation help to create a well rounded dancer.

Elements of various street style dances.  As hip hop is such a broad genre it gives the teacher as well as the dancer the freedom for personal interpretation and creativity.

Acro dance is the fusion of classic dance technique with the athleticism of acrobatic/tumbling skills. At LSSOD acro students will progress at their own pace through the critically acclaimed "ACROBATIC ARTS" levels where they learn the necessary foundation to build their repetore of skills.
